Welcome

Welcome to St Peter’s AC Rock the Lakes and Lough 5k,10k and half-marathon Event.

The route for all events is flat and fast, the setting is idyllic, encompassing both Lakes, with the half marathon taking in the beautiful Oxford Island trails.

The date of the event will hopefully attract runners preparing for Belfast half in September or full marathons in October. Or, for anyone wanting a run around a lovely location and a great day out!

There is prizemoney for all races with £300 for the Male and Female winners of the half-marathon!

The 5 and 10k events only are open to wheelchair and hand cycle participants.  Unfortunately, the half due to the trails around Oxford Island is unsuitable.

St Peter’s AC have a dual purpose in organising the event. It will help the club raise funding to pay for the hire of training facilities.  And our Charity partner for the event, the Southern Area Hospice Services in Newry, will receive a donation.

The whole St Peters club would like to thank you for supporting our event and would encourage your family and friends to come along to show their support.  We are looking forward to seeing you at the starting line and hope you enjoy a great day with us!

Race Information

Registration for all races is available online only, there will be no registering on the day of the event. When you register online there is an option to receive your entry by post (additional charges apply). You will receive a confirmation email of your entry.

The Start and finish area for all races will be close to the South Lake Leisure Centre.

There will be no changing facilities at the South Lake Leisure Centre. Runners should arrive early and ready to run. Participants in all 3 events will receive a bespoke medal and goody bag.

The chipped timing of the race is being looked after by MyRunResults.

Route Details!

All races will begin and end at the South Lake Leisure Centre in Craigavon. Allow space at the front of the Start Area for the fastest runners. For the half-marathon, areas will be marked according to the anticipated finishing times. We will enlist ‘pacers’ to help runners achieve their target time.

The 5k and 10k races will circle the Lakes, whilst the half-marathon will also incorporate the Link roads to Oxford Island. Before embarking on a loop of Oxford Island’s trails before returning by the Link Roads to Craigavon Lakes, where they will finish back at the Leisure Centre, and enjoy a well-deserved rest and refreshment.

Running on Public Roads

The 5k and 10k is wholly within the boundaries of Craigavon Lakes and therefore off-road. Although it will be open to members of the public, walking, cycling, prams and dogs. The paths are wide and can accommodate everyone if tolerance is shown. The half-marathon includes not only Craigavon Lakes, but also the cycle-paths and public road to Oxford Island.  Where it then navigates the trails around the Island. The section of the public road that the route will take will be closed for the duration of our event.

The Total prizemoney is £1,590

Safety Information

Use of Headphones on Road Races

Under UK Athletics Rule 240 S5 the wearing of headphones is not permitted in races on single carriageway roads not wholly closed to traffic. Athletics Northern Ireland will be enforcing this rule. It is the Race Organiser’s responsibility to ensure this rule is enforced as any incidents or accidents relating to a breach of the rule may invalidate the race insurance.

The rule applies to in-ear or over-the-ear headphones (with the exception of those medically prescribed). Bone conducting headphones which sit on the cheek are permitted as they transfer sound through the cheekbone and do not block other sounds through the ear.
